founders, freelancers, and operators looking for a 30-60 second spoken pitch structure
Elevator pitch examples, structure, and how to expand it into a permanent pitch page
An elevator pitch is a 30-60 second spoken summary. The structure is the same as a full sales pitch, but compressed to one paragraph. Examples + the bridge to a permanent pitch page when the elevator is too short to close the deal.
What an elevator pitch actually is
An elevator pitch is a 30-60 second spoken summary of what you do, for whom, and why they should care. The name comes from the imagined scenario: you are in an elevator with the person you most want as a customer, investor, or partner, and you have until they reach their floor to make your case. The honest answer is that elevator pitches almost never close deals. But a good elevator pitch is the seed of every other format: the cold email, the bio line, the homepage hero, the DM intro. It is the shortest version of your pitch you can say without lying.
The elevator-pitch structure (the same six beats, compressed)
Problem, agitate, solution, proof, offer, close — but each beat is one sentence, not one section. 'I help [audience] with [problem], because [why it matters now]. [Solution] does [outcome] by [one specific thing that makes it possible]. [One sentence of proof — a customer, a number, a story]. [One sentence of offer — what it costs, what it includes]. Want to see it?' The whole thing fits in 60 seconds spoken, or four sentences in a bio line.
Three elevator-pitch examples (and when each works)
Example one, founder at a conference: 'I help indie SaaS teams get from launch to first 100 paying customers without burning out on the feed. MapStack is a local-SEO tool that does the part most founders skip — the part where you tell the local market you exist. Two of our customers just hit 50 reviews in their first month. Want to see the playbook?' Example two, freelancer cold email: 'I design and ship production-ready pitch pages for indie founders. Most pages take a week; mine take a day because I work in the studio, not in Figma. Three pitches I shipped last month are still scoring above 4.5. Want a sample?' Example three, internal team update: 'We need to ship the rating window before the founding-pitcher cap closes, because every day we wait is a day of compounding reputational damage with the people we have not yet onboarded. The blocker is not the code, it is the QA pass. I need 3 days of one engineer this week to clear the QA queue.'
When an elevator pitch is not enough (the bridge to a permanent page)
An elevator pitch works in a room, in a DM, in a bio line. It fails the moment the buyer is at a URL and you are not — the moment they are researching you, comparing you, or trying to remember what you said. That is the moment the elevator pitch needs to expand into a permanent pitch page. The page is the same six beats, in the same order, but each beat is a section with its own URL anchor, its own proof, its own CTA. The buyer can read the page in 90 seconds or in 10 minutes, and the HonestScore compounds the whole time.
